Jobs added, lost: Both Sides of U.S. Job Loss Equation - Employment Statistics ("JOLT Data")
Solving a mystery of the jobs question, the author looks at "Jobs Opening and Labor Turnover" which gives us an idea of job addition vs. separation.
This statistic has not been covered by major media outlets and it provides (an imperfect) window to the missing side of the job equation. (How Many Jobs has the economy added?). Turns out that year over year the economy has lost 5.3 million jobs. Have the jobs been lost to the structure of our economy? If so then job loss may be a leading rather than a lagging indicator.
